Bought the Greenworks to replace a more expensive Sears model that wasn't very good. Almost everything about the Greenworks is better. To change from blower to mulch takes about 5 seconds as you just snap the new item in place. The Sears model was difficult to switch. I like everything about the new unit except for the scalloped end of the mulch nozzle. I would much prefer a straighter edge. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Greenworks.

The price was reasonable but this product would get clogged at times, had difficulty empting out the bag and tore a hole through it the first two hour of usage.

All the features, good quality, and good value

I purchased this unit mainly for leaf mulching duty, so I chose the metal impellor for its higher mulch ratio and presumably greater durability. I found it to be very easy to assemble and change from blower to vacuum. The plastic feels pretty durable and should last a while in normal service. The variable speed dial switch seems to be the weakest link, we'll see if it lasts through the entire warranty period. The bag is nice, works well. Overall its a very nice tool and just what I would expect from this type of thing.

Leaf season hasn't yet arrived, but I took this device out and mulched up a bunch of somewhat dried grass clippings. I had ten or fifteen bags of mulch before I was done, but it didn't seem to chop up the grass very much. Hopefully it will do better on leaves. It easily sucked up the clumps of grass until its bag would become full. So go dump the bag, repeat. The 33gal garbage can adapter that some other brands have available would be nice for this but I don't think it would be very difficult to just construct such a system for this, at most using a replacement bag for the connector.

So it works well and does what it is supposed to. I can't yet comment on the durability but the generous warranty is certainly reassuring. I think I got a good value with this overall.

This product is poorley manufactured. First off the on and off switch is intermitted and the bag did not last 10 uses when the bag started tearing at the attachment. I got the extended waranty. I called Greenworks after a large amount of talking about the bag they agreed to send a new one(without Charging ME) Yes they said that the warranty does not cover this item which is $20. The switch issue i would have to bring it to one of their service centers.... WHICH IS IN GILBERT I am in San Tan????? No mail in or any other services. I called and they said about a 7 to 14 day wait because they have to get approval to work on it from Greenworks. This is very cheaply made and yes for the price I should have known better.....

I was very shocked at how well the greenworks performed for such a small price I paid.. It's lightweight and doesn't leave you with the vibration feeling left in your arms, like some machines do, I have a good sized yard to clean and this machine did exactly what I needed it to do, I like the verible speeds for edging and small flower areas. I am very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to use the vacuum feature next.

I bought this for the vacuum function as I already have a gas blower. It does vacuum ok but does not mulch very well. "Turns 16 bushels of leaves into 1 bushel" is a stretch because a lot of the leaves are whole in the bag after vacuuming. As a vacuum it is very clumsy to operate. Trying to point the vac nozzle, manage the control buttons and hold the bag in a slight downward position or it clogs is awkward at best. I was also covered in leaf dust after operation and I would recommend a good dust mask. As a blower, my gas blower is way better and it is an older model.

We live in Albuquerque, NM. Landscaping here is typical for the southwest but very different than the rest of the country. We are only allowed a small patch of grass, desert plants and the rest is landscape gravel. Leaves and other debris settle into the gravel along with the dirt that blows in. I bought this unit to vacuum out all the debris that has accumulated in the gravel. I had to dig the end of the tube into the gravel to loosen the debris, which worked. What I hadn't anticipated was how much dirt would get sucked in as well (this vacuum really sucks!). I had to work about a 6' square area at a time then empty the bag.

All the dirt destroyed the zipper the first day. I wasn't surprised or upset because the zipper was too small for handling this amount of dirt and this unit wasn't built for this application. I got around the zipper by folding that side of the bag over twice and using 5 spring clamps to hold it closed.

All-in-all I have been impressed with this unit especially considering it was built to suck leaves off a lawn and not sucking dirt and heavy amounts of dead twigs out of gravel. If I was sucking leaves and twigs off of a lawn, I would give it 5 stars.

This thing is great! I had a gas blower that lasted many years but I was constantly tuning it and changing spark plugs etc. and got tired of the maintenance. When it finally died I thought about a rechargeable battery type blower but my previous experience with them tells me the battery will die after 5-10 minutes so I opted for this corded Greenworks blower.
It is powerful and does exactly what I need it to do which is to clear driveways and sidewalks of grass clippings and leaves. I especially like not having to put gas in it or charge it's battery before I'm done using it.

The lead blower has good power and does a good job of what it is expected to do. The product is robust and is good for regular or rough use.
It is a little heavy for my liking. It comes with attachements. The leaf collector attachment has not proved to be very useful for me. For the price I paid this is a good buy

I purchased this new in 2010. It failed after 3 uses. I contacted customer service who immediately sent me a complete replacement. They then recommended a shorter 14 gauge cord. I've used this for blowing and mulching/sucking up leaves. I have a ton of leaves of all sizes and it's worked great so far- even when twigs get in there. I needed to buy a 100 ft extension cord to get it to reach the entire yard. My only warning would be that if you are short (I'm 5'2") you'll need to hold it up as you use it, but it's a great arm workout! I think any blower would be this big.

I submitted my first review too soon. I still think this is a great value, but I got a hole in my bag after 3 uses. I know this is normal wear and tear but didn't expect it to happen so soon. Luckily it was within the 90-day return window with Home Depot because I called Greenworks to replace it under warranty and they told me they didn't support it. They had no record of it being at Home Depot. I don't understand this because it says in the manual and on the box that it has a 4-yr warranty. Used it for the first time today to slurp those hard to reach areas. The mulcher is fabulous. It chops up leaves at least twice as much as my mower. My leaf bags will hold 4 times the raked amount - will have to move them with rope and tackle! Hope it is as durable as it is efficient.

    Bulky but high performance

For a person just 5'3" tall, this blower-vac feels bulky when the vac tubes are attached. But assembly is easy and the performance is phenomenal. The leaves are mulched so small that they take up only about a third of their original volume - saves storage and bags and probably composts well. Let's hope that this tool is as durable (3 year warranty) as it is efficient.

Is mulcher blade metal and is it heavy?
    Asked on 10.19.2012

    • Kmartshopper1

      Plastic & cheap

    • Cassey14

It sounds like metal, I haven't looked in there but it's not heavy

    • GLYHAHHAW

yes, the blade is metal and seems strong. Mulched 2 Gigantic Piles of leaves and twigs with no problems.

    • montana231

Yes, the mulch fan is made of metal and after several hours of use I inspected it for wear and it still looked like new.

    • grandmah6

      no

    • uncdon

metal blade is a must unit does not seem heavy

    • dugz

Yes magnesium is metal. I don't know if you are asking if the blade is heavy or the whole unit. The metal blade is a lot more heavy duty than a plastic one. The whole unit isn't very heavy. About the same as a weed wacker.

    • GR8GRAMMA

The mulching blade is lightweight metal and works awesome. This vac/blower is much lighter than gas-powered. The handle is located on the blower so one's hands aren't extended away from the body causing back strain.

  • david
    what is the noise level
    Asked on 08.05.2014

    • BigAl21701

It is a leaf blower so it is pretty loud on full blast but you can adjust the amount of power with a thumb wheel so it is not as loud on the lower settings. The more power you use, the more noise you will have.

  • PINS
Does the Greenworks #24072, 12 amps have a cord retained?
    Asked on 10.06.2014

    • BigAl21701

You provide you own power cord but it does have a "hook" that holds the end of the cord near the unit so it does not become unplugged.
