    Time saving, effortless vacuum

    5 out of 5, reviewed on 05.16.2014

I'm a mom of 3 and I find myself constantly vacuuming our house. I am always lugging out our bulky upright vacuum and taking time out of my day to vacuum up the endless piles of sand, crumbs, stickers, etc. in the kitchen, bathroom, and family room. The Neato has made it super easy (and fun) to have clean floors on a daily basis. It's easy to program, easy to clean and most of all it gets into places I typically have to get down on my hands and knees to reach with my regular vacuum. I run it every day and it's always done a great job. My kids love it, too, referring to it as their robot named, Beep-Boo. I definitely recommend the Neato to anyone who enjoys clean floors!

I have 3 Neato Robots and this one is awesome. I have 3 cats in the house so I bought this and upgraded the brush to the pet and allergy version (Save $100 over the Sig Pro). It's a little louder than the BotVac but it's efficient and keeps my house free of kitty tumbleweeds. It reduces the amount of time I have to clean on Sundays which give us more TIME to play! I recommend everyone buying one!

    Roomba vs Neato

    2 out of 5, reviewed on 11.29.2014

I have both a Roomba and a Neato and know the pros and cons of both. Although Neato does a more orderly cleaning it does not do corners. What I find is that there is still dirt in the corners and edges. So when it is time to get another one we will go back to Roomba as they get all the edges.

I like being at work or pulling weeds while it vacuums. It is more thorough than I am at vacuuming. I think my dust allergies are better. It didn't get stuck under the dining room table but did get stuck under the norditrack machine.

I got this for the Fam for christmas. It was on sale for $200. for that price I am very happy with it. It is not perfect. Good for small rooms. Battery does not last long enough to do more than a couple rooms at a time. Sometimes it misses some very small areas. works well for us since our 1 year old is constantly leaving bits of his snacks on the floor. set it to go when we r leaving the house and its done when we get back. have used it 5 times. so far so good. time will tell.

It works well and I like that it goes back and recharges when more time is needed to complete a floor I have both this vac and the IRobot and both are good.

I have had Roombas for several years, the are expensive and usually quit after only one year, so I decided to try the Neato. As for picking up small stuff it does great. But this product is extremely loud. It also gets caught on every thing. So leaving it to run by itself is not a good idea. The Roombas seem to have the ability to move around objects better. I will stick with the Roombas.

Beware! Neato Robotics does not honor rebate offer

    2 out of 5, reviewed on 01.10.2015

Bought the Neato XV Essential last November at Walmart.com. Offer included a rebate from Neato Robotics for $30. Completed online application and mailed form including proof of purchase. Two weeks later Neato emailed me back saying that they could not confirm my purchase. Replied to them indicating that Walmart.com receipt was included together with rebate form. Three weeks later there is no response from Neato Robotics. It's a shame that a product that works as expected does not have a responsible company behind.
Do you a favor. Do not believe on Neato Robotics rebate offers!

    Greatest Vacuum Ever!

This vacuum is wonderful! I have a 2300 sq. ft. 1-story House, it cleans all my floors (tile and carpet). It takes 2 times to charge between vacuuming and goes to the charging unit itself, but it remembers where it left off. I found out that, if you put the vacuum station at the back of the room, it works better to get all the floor. You touch Start button 2 times and it starts vacuuming, it goes under my nightstands, dressers, beds, coffee table, it vacuums everything. I love that it looks clean, it leaves lines on the carpet like it was professionally done. The best part is I don't have to vacuum, it does it for me.

This vacuum is terrible, a $20 hand vac could do more in less time. Makes me sad, we really wanted to like this vacuum, used to have a roomba and it was better than this. With that being sad, I did want to say, the experience with walmart was painless, bought online, they shipped to store, was able to return to store with no problems.

This robot is great for getting pet hair off of hardwood floors. It misses some spots, but overall it does a great job. It seems to be getting better at learning its way around our house each time we use it. The bagless container is small and has to be emptied often, but it's easy to do.

Loud but awesome vacuum-robot for the price

My (very old) Roomba died so I needed a replacement to clean approximately 2000 sq ft of wood and tile floors. I chose the Neato XV Essential Bagless. My 3-week observations as compared with my prior Roomba:
-- REALLY loud on hard surfaces. You can hear it outside. Quieter on area rugs.
-- Much cheaper. Roomba model I considered cost 2.5 times what I paid.
-- Taller, gets caught under my sofa. Now I use the included magnetic strip to keep it from going under and getting stuck.
-- Cleans well. Rarely use the 'manual' vacuum anymore.
-- Returns to charger much better than my previous Roomba, but doesn't always make it back.
-- Scheduled daily 10am. Takes 3 vacuum/return/recharge cycles to finish my approx 2000 sq ft house. It automatically resumes after charging until its done.
-- Roomba always got confused if it left the room it started in. Neato handles multi-room cleaning pretty well.
-- Did I mention super loud? So loud on hard surfaces that it needs another mention.
-- Picks up dog & cat hair well from hard surfaces. Does a good job on my area rugs.
-- Bin fills every 1-2 charges. I empty it daily.
We'll see about reliability...but so far I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I thought this robot vac would be a very good one since it had a lot of good reviews. It was not what I expected, it kept shutting off and going around in the same spot instead of the entire room. It was not worth the money and not a good product.. I took it back to the store for a refund. I would not recommend this vacuum..

    My floors are always clean!

    5 out of 5, reviewed on 06.20.2014

I'm a bit of clean-freak, so vacuuming multiple times a week is a must. But it takes time to vacuum a 2,400 sq. ft. house, and I really don't have the time needed to truly keep my carpet and tiles clean at all times. Add in the fact we have a 70+ lb. Labrador Retriever who sheds and you can see why I was ready to go the robot vacuum route. Enter the Neato XV Essential.

    • Setup is a cinch and takes mere minutes to complete. They say to charge the vac overnight, but I was able to use it almost immediately since the charge bar was full upon setup.
    • The Neato takes a few initial runs to get used to the layout of your house, but seems to run quite seamlessly. Although I should note that it’s quite loud on tile floors (carpet is relatively quiet). I purchased the pet and allergy upgrade kit (new brush and filter) and the noise was greatly reduced.
    • The Neato will take itself back to the charger base when the battery is ready to be recharged. Once the battery is charged, it picks up where it left off and continues to vacuum the rest of your house.
    • Battery life on a full charge is roughly 1 hour. My 2,400 sq. ft. home takes a good three battery cycles to complete.
    • The instructions weren't kidding when they said to completely pick up your floor. If not, the Neato will get things stuck in its brush that will require you to remove before it continues.
    • It's important to note that the Neato dirt container isn't overly large, which means that you'll need to empty it every couple of cycles (maybe more if you have a shedding dog). But there's no chime that lets you know when the dirt bin is full, so you'll have to check the actual device every so often (it tells you on the screen). If you're at home most of the time, this isn't a problem. But this is definitely something to keep in mind if you plan to run the Neato while you're away for an extended period of time.
    • Overall, I love this robotic vacuum. It truly is a time-saver and keeps my floors looking clean every day.

I purchased ( the Zeato XV essential (mail order) because the price was great. But after attempting to charge it no thing happened. I kept it on charge for two days but it never took the charge so I don't know how it may have functioned. It's was not a product that was stocked in the store so I was not able to exchange it for another.
I was pleased with the service of the store because they did try to help me.
By the way, I ended up buying an IRoomba 645 at Sams for more money,
    but it works.

This vacuum fits into places where your traditional vacuum won't. It's a great time saver and is very powerful for its size. It's easy enough for my kids to use while cleaning their rooms. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Wife made me buy it...for once she was right!

Pros: Does a great job cleaning. Maps out room and cleans 95% each time. Really picks up dust, hair, and debris. Cleans about half of house on single charge. Programmable to go when not home. Does not bump and go like some robots, doesn't hit furniture. Returns to base to recharge or when done. Named it Rosie after the Jetson's maid.

Cons: Too small of bag tray. Have to empty after half of house, maybe your home is not as dirty! Really loud, but great suction. Sometimes gets hung up on thick rug. Wish it would talk when it needs it tray emptied.

I love it! Not only it turns my least favor house cleaning project into a fun one (just pressing the a button and the whole floor is vacuumed while I'm out dinning with family). It saved me few hours to spend more quality time with my baby daughter and my family. As a working mom, this is a truly valuable, innovative product. Now I can't live without my iphone and neato!

    Hard wood floor safe?
    Asked on 06.23.2014

Have read reviews for some robotic vacuums that say they scratched hardwood floors, and was wondering if any one could address their experience regarding hardwood floors and this product? Thanks

    • KathyD

This vacuum will not scratch hardwood floors. It has rubber wheels.

    • Rach

We have both hardwood and carpet it works well on both. I haven't noticed scratching, but I don't live in an area with sand. I'd assume that would make a difference.

    • GoTriciaGo

I have a similar model Neato for over a year now. Most of our house has hard wood floors, and it has never scratched them. Unlike other robots that bump into things to sense the room, this one is incredibly gentle. It actually "sees" objects in the room and goes right up to them without having to bump into them. It is amazing to watch this robot navigate itself between chair and table legs and along walls.

    • AngInMiami

I have Hardwood floors and they are all fine!

how does this vaccum fair against dog hair?
    Asked on 04.21.2014

    • AngInMiami

      It is awesome!

    • TheyCallMeMiguel

It handles pet hair okay, but I'd recommend getting the pet and allergy upgrade kit. And if your dog/s shed a lot, you'll need to be around to empty the dirt bin as it will fill up more quickly.

    • f1freak

If you buy the allergy kit upgrade, it's amazing. I have 3 cats and it does the job even without the kit.

    • ricol

      IT WORKS!

    Is this vacuum very loud?
    Asked on 02.25.2015

    • DeePeeMobileAL

It's not quiet. It is definitely not as loud as either of my two uprights, but is louder than my electric broom. You can have a conversation if it is in the room. I can just hear it when it is two-three rooms away. If you shut the door to a room it is in, it probably makes a little more noise than a box fan on high.

    • mattz10

It is as loud as any other standard vacuums

    • KathyD

This vacuum is somewhat loud but I still would purchase it again as it is a lifesaver & timesaver for me & my husband.

    • CLubs

Yes - the vacuum is loud, but not louder than most other "normal" vacuums. However, because the neato will take longer than a standard vacuum, you would have to endure the sound longer. We just try to run it in rooms we are not in or have it go when we are out of the house. It hasn't been a problem so far. However, if you wanted to watch TV or have a conversation while the vacuum is going right around you, you'd probably be frustrated
