    awesome phone

First off to anyone looking at this it will work with a tmobile sim .. That was what I wanted to know and didn't see it anyplace. Its basically a tmobile phone. Even the boot up is tmobile. Anyway tmobile sells this phone for $252 off contract. Best buy $199 and walmart $179 just boxed under family mobile .. This phone is literally the best phone out IMO as of 2/15 for the $$.. I'd be willing to put it up against quite a few other phones priced 2 to 3 times as much . sure the specs on paper aren't gonna compete against a lot of other phones but put all that aside and just use it. It does the job pretty smoothly . and the best part is the battery lasts forever! I've never had a smart phone I didn't have to charge at some point throughout the day or even be on its last leg come bed time. This thing goes easy 15-16hr days with a good bit of life lef at the end, and it has a huge screen to boot! Even the 6plus which I've owned didn't do this well. It's pretty amazing what you get for $180. Runs android 4.4.2 out the box and the 5.7" hd screen is pretty bright clear .. It is big but its not that bad if your use to big phones. If your reading these reviews ..buy it , you won't regret it.

Not just good for the price, good overall.

Purchased this phone just as a backup while my HTC One M7 was sent for repair. This phone performs very well and has stock android to boot. The battery life is insanely good, I can go a day and a half without having to charge (charges fast too). There are some slight cons, it tends to drop calls just a tiny fraction more then my previous phone and as always android has some slight bugs. Overall though the phone is excellent.

With the exception of that power button ...

... this is a great value. Whoever came up with the idea to place the power button on the side of the phone should be schooled in ergonomics. The user is likely to push the thing while talking or using some of the apps.

Other than that, and the HUGE size of this thing, I have no complaints.

I had to take my SIM card to T-Mobile and have them cut it down for the mini/micro SIM card. That was the only hassle with getting it up and running post haste. I found a plethora of cases and holders online for it.

Have been using for about 3 months and it does it all. The battery lasts me about 3 days, my Samsung had to be charged after just a few hours in the day. The quad core is really zippy. I love the large screen because I have large hands. The GPS is really nice on a larger screen. You should probably get a cover for it, it has a smooth surface so you need a cover. The price is cheaper than most contract phones and it's all yours :)
    I couldn't be happier!

I was totally shocked by the huge screen and it's great graphics. This phone is a very reasonable price and meets all my expectations. What makes it even better is it's an Andriod. I had a windows phone prior to purchasing this and I'm so much more happier with this phone. It's like having a tablet and a phone at the same time!! This Phone is awesome!! Thanks Walmart LOL!

    Thoroughly Impressed

Once I saw my that my brother and his girlfriend had this phone, I developed a crush. I recently purchased this phone online and I just had to go ahead and activate it and port my number over from Sprint. The winner for me was the screen size, slim build, and cheap unlimited plan. The battery is a winner too...it lasts way longer than my S5. The phone had yet to lag. Even though it doesn't have the latest Android 5.0,I like this version better. I noticed after I updated my galaxy s5, it performed horribly. It would crash multiples times a day. I think the price of this phone is great for the great battery life, stability, and size and it exceeds my expectations. I think I'm over $600 phones when this one is better! I'm tired of people saying, Zte Zmax is great for the price or low end device.... Please give credit when credit is due--this phone is great! It doesn't make sense anymore to pay $700+ for the same type of phone just because of the name. Zte might surpass those top manufacturers....don't sleep! I love my Zte Zmax, Samsung who?

This phone is amazing, I love the large screen, this phone is blazing fast. The picture quality out does my wife's Iphone5. The speakers in this thing will blow your mind, I was able to listen to music on it while in show and heard it over the shower, not common for a phone. If i could explain this phone, i would say its more like a tablet with the ability to call. I have put the kindle fire up for sale because this phone out does it at every corner

So I was an owner of a Galaxy S4 for one year and honestly speaking I just switched to this phone and have used it for 3 weeks now. I like it better than the S4 because of big screen, Battery lasts longer than any of the smart phones out there I have ever owned. The only slight difference that I noted with it from the S4 was the screen resolution(1080i Vs 720p) and the cameras (13 Vs 8 megapix) but considering the price of this phone I think it is worth every penny spent on it...GO ZTE! I am looking forward for their next Model.

Recorded Video Freezes and so does phone.

I bought this phone two months ago. Last week, the phone locked up for the first time. The battery is not removable, so it's difficult to get the phone to reset when it's frozen. Almost every video I take is corrupted and can only play the first ten seconds, or so. I don't know if I just got a bad one or if they are all like that. The phone is still worthy of an average rating.

I am SO in love with this phone--I've had it for a little over a month now and it is amazing! Yes, it's huge, but let's be honest so much of us 20 somethings actually talk on our phone 2% of the time and read/text/surf 98%. If you're a user like that then you will love this phone!

Too good and speechless for $179

Honestly, Ive own the first generation iPhone since 2008. This is probably the best phone I've ever purchased for the money. Kitkat 4.4 , 1.2 ghz quad processor Qualcomm snapdragon 400 and 2gig of ram blazing fast, what else can we say about the zmax. Apple $650 really!!!!! , Samsung $650 really!!!!. I have family mobile $34.88 unlimted everything with 5gb of high speed. What else can we say about the world largest retailer. The phone is $179. It has an unbelievable 3400 Mah battery , no need to charge every time , gorilla glass 3.0 and wfm - tmobile is the only carrier that offers HD quality on their phone calls " crispy" clear it almost sound like your phone call was tapped. I would give a 6 star. Lastly, I want every phone manufacture to reconsider their pricing because this is a prime example of what consumers are looking phone.

Having a plan with T-Mobile directly (the prepaid $60 plan), i was concerned that this would not work being as it is a Walmart 'Family Mobile' phone, however it works just great, i put in my SIM card from t-mobile and it worked straight away. I get 4GLTE @ 39MB down 23MB up. Great phone so far! Why but from T-Mobile for $262 when you can get from Wallies at $199 ??

So I don't usually leave reviews - but you have to know about this phone - people always say "for the price" - but this phone EASILY compares to any higher end Samsung, iphone, LG phones out there, and for a fourth of the cost! Also includes warranty for $51! You can't beat it. This has been one of the best phones I've had. I've had the HTC sensation, Iphone 4s, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, LG G3, LG optimus F3, Galaxy S3, and I think a few others - Sony, and something else I can't think of right now... and I'm telling you, this phone is awesome! Does everything you need it to do, no glitches, running a new android 4.4, no bloat ware, FAST! You'll be happy - get the warranty, protects from Damage to the screen and water damage!

BEST phone for PRICE, WORTH IT

    5 out of 5, reviewed on 01.01.0001

    5

    KEY POINTS:
    -Blazing fast web browsing
    -Super smooth lagless interface
    -Super long-lasting battery
    -Super close to stock ROM
    -BEYOND WORTH THE PRICE

So I was gonna purchase the Note Edge but then I was strongly recommended to give the ZTE ZMAX a try. Mind as well pay a LOW PRICE and try it before buying the higher-end Note Edge. Aha. Well looks like the Note's no longer on my wishlist for I now already got my 'SATISFACTION GUARANTEED' ahaa. I could not help but to go through the hassle of resetting my walmart password juss to get back on and write a review for this AMAZING phone and let others know how SMOOTH and RELIABLE it is.

The interface is SUPER smooth, has not ever lagged yet, and the touch sensitivity is IMMEDIATE & on point ACCURATE. Surfing the internet is a BREEZE and just way smooth, like the higher-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S 5 and LG G3, which was an honest surprise. Even more than the HTC One M7 and the Galaxy 4 & its previous successors. This phablet even takes advantage of the super fast 4GLTE from T-Mobile as it never tests my patience.

The display is not as sharp as the more high-end phones such as the LG G3 and Sony Xperia Z3, but it is still VERY CRISP; it is still more than enough to intrique your eyes. Watching Netflix & Youtube is like watching a small version Samsung Smart TV, running smooth with no blur and lag, of course on a decent WiFi connection. While on the T-MOBILE network with 4/5 bars of reception, it still BLURRED a bit during the first 30 seconds, but it then it adjusted to being 90% as sharp as on a strong WiFi connection. It took a bit of effort to really see the difference.

The phone is actually very STURDY. Quite a bit slippery at hand but does have that premium feel to it. It does feel noticebly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S 5, although I personally really enjoy the DURABLE feel. The back cover is NOT REMOVABLE but on the contrast, the device has the most INCREDIBLE LONGLASTING BATTERY I have ever experienced in a phone. The LG G2 & G3 batteries WERE the most longlasting I have ever used BUT this phone lasts juss as long, if not longer. I am huge on battery life and this phone juss tops it off with it. For example, I've been using it for a bit over 3 hours since the last charge and the power only went down by 21% on approx. 3/4 full brightness while intense use of Facebook, texting, 10 minutes of a Netflix movie, Snapchat, Instagram, downloading at least 30 apps, and talking for about 10 minutes. I charge every other day under regular use. Couple times every 2 days. Once a day under heavy use. I never had to charge more than once in the same day so far. (I recalibrate the battery once a week by completely draining it then charge it to 100% without interruption and avoid overcharge)

The sound is not to die for like the HTC ONE M7 & M8 although it is still LOUDER than most phones out there. It's wayy louder than my ex boyfriend's Sony Xperia Z3 so I definitely have no complaints. It sounds CLEAR without the need to adjust the equalizer.

Yeah it doesn't have a lot of features like higher-end devices but it definitely makes up with it with the powerful battery and BARELY ANY BLOATWARE. It's so close to the stock Android ROM and gives you a truly FRESH feel when discovering what this phone has to offer.

Overall, I'm sure you already see that I am BEYOND IMPRESSED with this phablet. It is HUGE but THIN. It still fits in my pockets, but still easily slips without a case. Cases start about $3.85 & up on Ebay & similar sites but most range about $7-$10 average.
This phone was SOLD OUT online and all the stores I went to so after reading all the reviews and the specs of the phone, I ended up purchasing it online and had it shipped Site to Store. That was the only way to get it at Walmart for me and it was DEFINITELY WORTH it. I paid $194.22 total after taxes which is wayy better than paying $250 plus tax at T-Mobile.

    KEEP IN MIND:
-This phone can be used for not only the Walmart Family Mobile plan, but also T-Mobile & MetroPCS. Just stick in the SIM Card.
-MICRO SIM CARD(I got mines for free asking a T-MO rep at the kiosk at the mall in Escondido)
-It says it only supports up to 32GB in SD Memory Card expansion but my 64GB works just fine. I now have 69GB total in RAW USER MEMORY. ;)

I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S4 which is no longer working. This phone doesn't have quite as good of build quality or as vibrant of a screen but costs about 1/3 as much. I'm using it with a tmobile sim and wifi calling works which was a requirement for me. The screen is big and looks very good IMO. Screen is not well protected so this really needs a case of some sort. Very stock Android OS is very easy to use. Am happy with my purchase.

Can this phone be used with metropcs?
    Asked on 12.16.2014

    • RevDB

      yes metro owns t-mobile

    • VoyagerGary

I bought this phone after seeing a couple of reviews saying you could just put your MetroPCS sim in it and it supposedly would work fine. I had to take the phone back after talking to a MetroPCS rep on the phone, as well as personally taking it to my MetroPCS store, and even T-Mobile at the suggestion of MetroPCS reps. No one could make it work for me without switching to T-Mobile or the Walmart plan.

    • DtownsPolarBear

PS: T-Mobile and MetroPCS are family. http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10000872396390444223104578034082455359970

If the phone is "unlocked", meaning there's no carrier restrictions on it, and it's a GSM phone, the answer is yes.

    • CommunityAnswer

No, this cell phone is locked onto T-Mobile's network.

Will this phone work with 4G
    Asked on 12.19.2014

    • arewethereyetcauseicantwa

yes, also it works with 4g LTE. It has the LTE light if you are in the area for it. It is much faster than 4g.

    • RevDB

      yes absolutly lte also

    • bobingeorgia

      yes with tmobile

    • Dave1973

Since this phone is made for the T-Mobile network, it has 4G LTE on it, & you will be able to access on their 4g LTE network. For AT&T, it might have to be unlocked, & you might only be able to use 4G LTE only on the AWS band (1700/2100 bands). I don't know if it supports AT&T's specific 700 bands.

    • Celuymas

      Yes Work 4G LTE
